Dear Mr. Podhoretz:
This letter is to express my disappointment in both Anthony Weiner’s use of “Carlos Danger” as his own nickname, and in your coverage that added insult to injury when you wrote in your column today “After all, there is no Hispanic candidate in the race.”
I have to believe that as a seasoned journalist who covers New York City politics, that you are aware of Erick Salgado, Erick Salgado is an official candidate in the Democratic Mayoral Primary who filed about 20,000 signatures to get on the ballot, who is Hispanic, and who, in fact, is the only Hispanic in this Democratic Mayoral primary.
Of course, like most Hispanics, I am insulted that Anthony Weiner chose a Hispanic name to denigrate us and mock us by masking his deep perversions, but I have to say that I am also insulted that the New York Post will not give New York Mayoral Candidate Erick Salgado – the real Hispanic – a fair chance to even be included in your coverage of the 2013 Democratic Primary.
I am calling on you and the New York Post to provide a fair analysis of this Race for Mayor in the Democratic Primary, and to stop ignoring Erick Salgado who is running a responsible and respectful campaign.
I am also calling on you and the New York Post to stop ignoring New York’s Hispanic community and the strong political leadership that continues to thrive throughout our City.
With 47 days left in this Democratic Primary, I am available to meet with you and your editorial board along with Erick Salgado to discuss these matters further.
Sincerely,
Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz
